Good morning Philippines!
For some, this is the start of another tiring week, but for me, it’s another chance to be productive. Before, I was one of the millions of Filipinos who need to wake up early just to arrive to the office on time. I still do, but not always now that I got a different work schedule.
Imagine this. Busy streets, some people are walking in a hurry, others are waiting endlessly for a cab or a bus with a vacant seat. I remember that I always fell asleep whenever I traveled in the morning because of heavy traffic. Good for me because I’ve always been a commuter. Well aside from sleeping while in transit, there are other ways to beat boredom when you’re caught in the same scenario.
1. (Mentally) Organize your day.
You can think of the things that you should accomplish within the day. For example, meet your direct reports, edit your papers, submit your last week’s task for review, check the schedule of your team (if you’re handling one), visit the nearest coffee shop to take advantage of existing promotions, among others. Or you can think about the things you should buy before going home, places to drop by and people to see before we call it a day. If you can do it discreetly, and you’re like me who’s always dependent on my notes, you can open your favorite organizer and write everything down so you can check what still needs to be included on the list.
2. Brighten up someone’s day.
In my opinion, morning is the perfect time to make a persons’ day right. I usually use this time to register to unlimited texting service (I’m just like any other Filipina who depends so much in this technological advancement), and greet my friends with my personal message. I seldom use forwarded messages though because sometimes some of my friends will tell me that they appreciate it better if they will read my personal greeting(s) instead. Aside from that, I can send messages to follow up on something, remind others of stuff they need, inspire and motivate my other contacts on their endeavors. You can use this time of the day to strengthen your personal relationships.
3. Tap your creative self.
With a pen and paper handy, you can do a lot of things to tap your creativity. You can compose your poems, write your songs, do your morning pages (I’ll post a separate entry about this interesting topic) and list your personal quotes (you can come up with a lot of ideas on this suggestion). You might be surprised on how creative you can be doing all these activities while you were just sitting there. =)
4. Say thank you and think positively.
Close your eyes for a moment and thank the people who made your day. It’s another chance given for you to live life to the fullest, so acknowledge your Supreme Being for that realization. It may be challenging at times, but you can always try to think positive on things that matter to you. You can see how it affects your way of thinking, feeling and living life in a better way.
Thank you for taking time to read my first few posts. Please feel free to include your comments and suggestions. Have a productive week ahead! =)
